Warren Report 11.6.14

From Nick Rufca (BFA  98)  “I am now Production Supervisor on a new feature "Cook", directed by Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy) and set to begin filming in LA in November.” From Carrie Hunter  (BFA 09)  “We're about to hold another Meet N Greet for filmmakers and actors in Pensacola, FL on Nov 16th.  We have representatives from some of the TV/Film companies in the area that are going to be on a panel discussing what they look for when hiring entry level employees and common mistakes to avoid during the application process and during the first few weeks of work.  This will be followed by our networking meeting.  We have a few FSU Film Alumni that show up to these regularly and I'd like to invite any of you that are in the Pensacola/Mobile area to come out.  Facebook Meeting: https://www.facebook.com/events/820496501341409/    I also just finished producing three new shorts here on the Gulf Coast.  One of them was directed by Joe Gaccione who was a Media Production major that I met while at FSU.  We're experimenting with everything from kid's films to raunchy comedies.   You can see them all on my company's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/seahunterfilm Welcome back to the Film School to Amy Vincent, ASC,!  She’ll be here for several weeks doing camera workshops.   From Najaa Young (MFA 04)  “ NaRa Films and O.Y.'s Spotlite Entertainment are excited to announce that their new independent feature film Blood First, distributed by Entertainment One (eOne) and N.S.U.C. Entertainment Group, will be released internationally on DVD, BluRay and VOD (Video on Demand) on 11/11/14. Blood First  chronicles the lives of two brothers who haphazardly follow their father's footsteps into a dangerous life of crime and violence. When faced with serving lengthy prison sentences for their crimes, one brother chooses to cooperate with the prosecution while the other does not, testing the true meaning of loyalty, honor and blood. The film’s non-linear storytelling fluidly mixes the past with the present as audiences experience what events occurred in their lives to make these men who they are today while exploring the notion of manhood and fatherhood in the inner city.

Blood First was scored by multiplatinum music producer Drumma Boy and has a soundtrack with original music by Project Pat, Big KRIT, Turk, 8 Ball, MJG, Trae tha Truth, Boaz and Emanuel “Manny” DeAnda. The first single from the soundtrack, Blood Is All We Got, is currently available on iTunes. To pre-order Blood First now please visit Amazon.com, BestBuy.comTarget.com and Family Video. Blood First has been rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). To learn more about Blood First and to view the trailer visit: www.BloodFirstTheMovie.com. From Kelsey Scott (MFA 99)  “Ameenah Kaplan has always been amazing...But she has gone from my zealously-talented-high-school-friend amazing, to an award-winning choreographer, director, musician and actress... amazing.  So when she pitched me the concept for Raditatical: A Journey in Rhythm - a new, rhythm-based show she co-wrote and directed with the world's only beat-box juggler, BRONKAR LEE - I paid attention. …And signed on as one of the show’s producers.  This September, the show previewed at Hollywood's historic Ricardo Montalban Theatre, to the tune of 600 people and a standing ovation.  In light of this overwhelming response to a brand new show, we're returning to the Montalban for a six-show event, this December.  And I'm excited to present you with an opportunity to support the evolution of this unique production.   RADITATICAL is more than an exploration of rhythm. It's an interactive, multimedia experience, utilizing video projection, a multitude of special effects and a cast of performers who specialize in spectacle theater. More than that, it's the story of how music became the eye in the storm of one man's struggle with ADHD.

Join me and the intimidatingly talented RADITATICAL team, as we break new ground in the world of live theatre... with a downbeat.
