Warren Report 4.25.15

Just a reminder that as part of FSU’s Noles in NY week, we will be having a screening of some of our best, recent, films on  Tuesday, May 5, at 8:00 PM at the Angelika Film Center, 18 West Houston Street, NY.   A post screening reception will follow at a nearby lounge at 10 PM.  No tickets are required for the screening, but tickets for the reception (and a map) will be provided at the screening.  If you haven’t already rsvp’d  to my Facebook invitation, please let Gina Rhodes know you will be coming to the screening so that she will have a name tag prepared for you.   Also give her the names of any guests you may be bringing.  You can reach Gina at gcrhodes@fsu.edu or at 850 644 8524.    Hope to see you there!  I’m already rummaging through my closet for black clothing so I won’t look like a Florida tourist! From Katie Aldworth (BFA  12)  “It's time for a new adventure! Last week I accepted a position as a storyboard artist at Cartoon Network for an amazing cartoon called Clarence. I'm bummed to be leaving Stoopid Buddy and all the friends, peers and mentors there that I've come to love, but something new and exciting awaits and I can't wait to start! Clarence, here I come!” Congratulatons to Anthony Cabrera and Octevia Robertson, both of whom will graduate next week in our first BFA class to receive degrees in Animation and Digital Arts.   They both have jobs as as junior coordinators with Pixomondo starting May 18th. They are super excited and nervous to be moving to California, but glad that they are moving in together. The first movie they will be working on is the new Fantastic Four movie that is set to release in August. So they already know they will be busy and tired! From Nia Phillips (MFA 14)  “I have recently started working at Modern VideoFilm in Burbank. Modern VideoFilm’s creative services cover all aspects of film and television post-production – editing, dailies processing, 2K and 4K color grading, stereo 3D services, visual effects, DCP packaging and film finishing.  Some of the company's credits include Game of Thrones, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Modern Family, Pretty Little Liars, Sons of Anarchy, and Sleepy Hollow.  I am working as a Data Labs/Digital Media Operator where I am responsible for encoding, ingesting, transcoding, and executing vfx pulls for TV. I'm extremely excited to be working in the Digital Media department where I am currently learning to be fluent in Avid, Colorfront , Smoke, and Resolve!” Stephanie Williams (MFA '14): I am currently working as the Editorial PA on "The Hateful Eight,"  under editor Fred Raskin ("Guardians of the Galaxy," "Django Unchained"). So far this has been a wonderful learning opportunity, and it's been amazing to get to work on a show shot on 70mm film. The release date is set for sometime this November.” From Will Bigham (MFA  04)  “ We're excited to announce that THE A-LIST is being released on May 12th, 2015! You'll be able to watch it on all the major network VOD providers, iTunes, and Amazon! We can't wait for everyone to see it!  You can watch the trailer at  https://youtu.be/XFkWa3NbsJ8” From Noah Camenker (MFA 14)  “Since I moved to LA everyone I’ve asked has told me that if I want to be a writer-director, I have to do it. So I wrote a very simple script about a father and son, got some friends together, and we’re going make a movie! Below is our Kickstarter page.  If anyone knows any amazing old men actors (like 80s) send them my way! Position is paid. Likewise, if you or someone you know is a great sound person with their own lavs and mixer, let me know your rates. We’re also looking for a location. We need a living room with a couch that is quiet and sheltered from the sounds of traffic and neighbors. Any leads, contributions, re-postings of Kickstarter link, or happy thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1027194579/letting-go-1  Banana Trip (BFA Thesis 2013 Hyungjik Lee) begins airing on  KQED’s Film School Shorts across the country starting in late May.
