Warren Report 5/30/13

Studio System News has identified Adele Romanski (BFA 04) as one of ten Up and Coming Producers!  “Romanski started out associate producing short films, and in 2010, she produced Katie Aselton’s Sundance favorite The Freebie staring Aselton and Dax Shepard as a husband and wife who agree to sleep with someone else for one night—a situation that ends in catastrophe. She also produced David Robert Mitchell’s Cannes debut The Myth of the American Sleepover, distributed by Sundance Selects, a fantastic teen drama about a group of high school students celebrating the last night of summer. The film’s performances and the feeling of authenticity are quite impressive. Then Romanski and Aselton re-teamed for the thriller Black Rock, directed by Aselton and starring Lake Bell and Kate Bosworth, and acquired by LD Distribution. Next up, she’s re-teaming with Mitchell for Ella Walks the Beach, a romantic drama about a single woman traversing a California beach. Judging by what Romanski and Mitchell accomplished with The Myth of the American Sleepover, it’s likely this seemingly simple story will pack a surprising and unexpected punch, and the same goes for Romanski herself as she pursues future projects.” Ali Bell (BFA 99) is in Cleveland, OH this summer producing Draft Day starring Kevin Costner.  Log line:  The General Manager of the Cleveland Browns struggles to acquire the number one draft pick for his team. From David Saint (MFA  09)  “I have a sketch group that performs around LA, Karla and I launched an improvised YouTube show called Gringo and Me, and I'm developing a couple pilots.   Here's the link to the YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/gringoandme “ From Lee Carlisle (MFA W 09)  “King & Maxwell premiers Monday, June 10th @ 10:00 on TNT. It's a fun little show staring Jon Tenney, Rebecca Romijn and Ryan Hurst and is based on the book series by David Baldacci. I worked as the post production coordinator on the pilot and then switched departments and have been working as the writers PA on the first season - it's been great so far and we're looking forward to seeing it on the air! You can check out some promos on TNT's website (http://www.tntdrama.com/series/king-and-maxwell/) and the show's facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/KingAndMaxwell) and watch it Mondays @10:00 over the summer!          Unrelated: I know some people looking for a teleprompter operator in the San Francisco area (either with their own gear or able to rent) for a one day shoot in Mountain View. If anyone's interested or knows somebody who would be interested I can put them in touch. “ From Brandi Bradburn Holland (MFA 99)  “Dan edited a pilot this year, "Killer Women,"that got greenlit for mid season, although he will be back editing for a full season on Parenthood next year. I'm still teaching at UCLA film school once a year, my show has a full order for next season and I'll be directing at least one episode! On top of that, Warner Brothers created a Directing Workshop this year and invited me to be in the inaugural class. I'm in workshops over the summer, and then the studio will be actively working toward getting me hired to direct on all the shows shooting on the Warner Brothers lot from then on. Kids are all doing amazing things, and we are feeling so fortunate. It's been a good year at the Holland home.” Sabrina Reisinger, past executive asisstant to dean Frank Patterson (2006-2012) has been on an almost year long personal sabbatical of moving to Asheville, doing yoga teacher training, traveling to Cuba, and having a lot of time to just do nothing.  After having considered moving to Peru but deciding not to put the cats through that she is settling in Asheville as the Assistant to the VP of Academic Affairs at her undergraduate alma mater Warren Wilson College, a small private work college of about 800 students nestled in the Appalachian mountains with a "300 acre farm and an organic garden, 600 acres of forest, 25 miles of hiking trails, numerous cows, pigs, and a few bears."  Come visit if you are in the area!Akil DuPont's (MFA 10) latest short film, "Silhouettes" - a fairy tale romance about a painter who sees the world through silhouettes will be premiering on:   Sat. June 8th, 2013 – 3pm (Encore Screening at 5:15pm)

Ting (MFA '13) is one of the hardest workers that I have ever seen! This will be the followup to my 18x award-winning thesis film "Underground". Thank you so much for all your help throughout the campaign. Whether you donated $1, $50 or spread the word about us - we appreciate your support because we couldn't have succeeded without you. We are now in the script development phase and will soon be casting. We are excited to put our work on its feet. Great safe location, large tri-level apartment w/ underground garage. I work freelance in live television/live event production (mostly in post) and would like to find someone ideally in their 30's who is mature, fun, tidy, and with their party days fondly in their rearview mirror - but still enjoys grilling out now and then with a few friends.  With the exception of the bedroom avail, the apartment is fully furnished.  New roommate's share of rent is $850 + half utilities/directv/internet.  While I'd prefer a female, I've had great male roommates in the past and will consider it again if the right (tidy/mature/non-fraternity-house) guy came along!  :)   Please email if you know of anyone interested!  leslievincent1@mac.com” This week with the Tallahassee Film Society:  “• "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" with Free Admission Today at 5 PM (Memorial Day)!
